Notch rants against the Yogscast on Twitter

Notch has leashed a wave of angry tweets on Twitter letting the world know the evil wrong-doings of Yogscast. His rant included brutal accusations such as calling them “dicks” to acting like “total spoiled divas nonstop” to even egotistical along with other remarks.

This is a haunting realization that not everything went “according to plan” or to Notch’s favor. It seem Yogscast have in someway ruined Notch’s experience. Let’s face it, this is the most angriest we’ve publicly seen Notch and it shows it. Apart from calling another user a dick, this a whole new level of accusations with grey-area written all over it.

This just begs the question “what happened?” If you scour the Internet such as the Yogiverse forums, Notch’s twitter, or even this /r/Minecraft thread, you’ll see it was more than just a simple f-bomb. Apparently, Notch did not like the way the Yogscast acted at all. Even to the point calling them spoiled divas and being egotistical stating “they made Minecraft big”.

But also saying they “should be paid for coming” and calling Mojang a “bunch of nerds who don’t know how to run a company”. If all of this is true, and with Notch being the man he is, then the Yogscast have some explaining to do. However Notch has stated he has liked their work which obviously sends a mixed bag.

But I don’t think that will ease the raining pain of words Notch has directed at the Yogscast. I hope Notch realizes what he’s done.

Wow. Hate, insults and threats are flooding in from Yogscast fans. I’ll stop biting my tongue now.

Yogscast repeatedly insulted people, talked behind their backs, refused to cooperate, and acted like total spoiled divas nonstop.

Yogscast, Notch and Minecon

So, it seems Minecon was a hit! The booths were toured, parties were had, Notch pulled the lever and Yogscast did their panel. Notch didn’t like that, apparently. He tweeted to his hundreds of thousands of followers regarding two specific tweets.

First, Notch tweeted:

We also learned who not to work with at Minecon. Shame.. :/

The tweet alone sent the whole Minecraft universe into a huge ‘whodunnit’ case. Many speculated Yogscast among others. An hour later, Notch tweeted:

I’m very sorry about the behavior of the people we won’t work with any more. Celebrity or not, you don’t f-bomb kids.

Obviously for Notch to send a tweet like that, on a magnitude of thatdisappointment, someone must have done something very wrong. Five hours later, Notchquelledthe suspicions by confirming that it was indeed Yogscast.

We have reached out to Yogscast for their comment on this event and have yet to reach a reply.

UPDATE (2:15 pm USA EST):Lomidia, Yogscast’s PR person, has released this statement in the topic:

“I find the words ‘work with’ to be very interesting in this you will see why when Lewis gets home and makes his v-log of Minecon.

He used masturbation jokes in our videos, but then criticises us for using old footage with swearing in, when we have limited resources to edit the footage in Vegas, and also neither Mojang nor IGN gave us any guidelines as to what we were and weren’t allowed to do the people in the panel and on the livestream chose to come and see us so you’d think they’d know swearing is likely.

We did about six hours of signings and photos in general no kid or parent complained to us about swearing.

I won’t say more as Lewis’ v-log will expose everything in wonderfully high definitioned rage, so give us a few days to get our thoughts in order. “

“INVALID SERVER KEY” error and fix

I have seen the “INVALID SERVER KEY” error allot thesedays one fix is to just retry until it works.

A better fix however is this,http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/801030-100-invalid-server-key-fix/bysk89q(you know the guy who makes WorldEdit, WorldGuard, CraftBook, and a few other things?)

Modificationsummery:

The bug is actually caused by (another attempt…) at fixing this exploit:
http://www.minecraft…ecraft-account/
It attempts to check if the server key is valid by attempting to parse the server key as a long, but there’s an error that makes this fail (attempt to parse an unsigned long, causing overflow). I’ve changed this to a simple check to make sure that the server key is a hexadecimal number.

And theinstallationprocessis fairly simple if you have installed mods before:

  1. Open up the minecraft.jar file with a ZIP program, because .jar files are secretly .zip (on Windows, type %APPDATA%.minecraftbin in Windows Explorer to find this file, on Linux, it is in ~/.minecraft/bin, On Mac OS X Got to finder and from the “Go” menu select “go to folder” and type in “~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/” there just rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip and unzip it)
  2. Copy the downloaded abp.class file into minecraft.jar and replace the existing file.
  3. Go to the META-INF folder and delete everything except for MANIFEST.MF. The files you delete tell Java to make sure that Minecraft’s files have not been modified, but that’s what we’re doing!
  4. Now select all the files and compress them back to a zip file, rename the zip file minecraft.jar (On Mac OS X leopard or higher jsut select all fiels and right click -> compress, on windows consult comments or minecraft forums, linux consult comments or minecraft forums)

Minecraft beta label ripped off!

Notch has pulled thegiganticlever at the minecon main stage and Minecraft has now been released. For real this time no more beta alpha or any other development label.

Go update if you can, the logins server will be taking a pounding and not sure it will hold.

public.crafthub.net is now Minecraft 1.0 server!

The day is upon us.

The day is upon us, the heavens have opened and minecon has started, TeamMojang just released a video of the preparations that has been going on in Las Vegas.
Sadly, we will not have anyone there to report on the happenings but we will nevertheless try to bring you the latest in news.

For those who are going we hope that you have the best of times there, and go hug a creeper for us!

If you take any photos or videos you want to share with the community please post them on the forum, or try to breathe life in to our reddit page.

The full release of minecraft is going to betomorrow(accordingto this tweet by Carl)

And as always we are going to keep our public server up to date with therelease on a temp map, and later when bukkit and plugins get updated we will move over to apermanentmap.

Capital of Myrith debuts its glorious presence.

Block Fortress does it again. We lastshowcasedhim when he revealed Amida’s Shrine (which was just as glorious). This time he’s gone all-out again bringing us the Capital of Myrith: Chryseum. Folks, this has got to be one of the mostmagnificentdisplays of city-builds I’ve seen. A giant castle stands in the middle, fenced with houses that are parked near the two parksadjacentto each other. Then there’s also thearenas, farmland, andagricultureand more. The whole city is littered with gold-platted blocks that make it shine valiantly through-out the land. If you were to enter this, you’d probably just stare and awe as your roamed around. I have to say a job well down, Block_Fortress. Only you can provide builds of this caliber and magnitude.

Sadly, this is notavailable for download. However, if you have the1.7+client (not 1.8!), you can play this on the server:64.74.97.84:25565. But if not, you’ll have just to gaze at its beauty from afar.

Block_Fortress says:

This would be my first big city build.Unfortunatelyit was rushed due to the fact I had to get it into the minecraft Top 5 creations contest by today… Freakingcouldn’tfinish with the amount of detail I wanted… But it’s ok, I’m going to finish it off properly later.

Anyway, I would like to say thank you to Jistic and Gingermidget for helping me out on this one. Otherwise Iwouldn’thave got it finished in time!

There are districts. The castle, 2 parks, the arenas, farmland and agriculture and the other 4 are for housing. In total there are 52 houses. The central castle goes up around 100+m and has the rough width and length of 200. The city itself has a width and length of 485 by 485, roughly. The texturepack is a custom dokucraft. The grass is so stupid, I know. Looks better with nice green grass.

Minecraft: The Story of Mojang

Remember that kickstarter project started by 2PlayerProductions? Well, it’s going along well and we’d just like to indulge you in what will be a feature film coming to you in 2012. Minecraft, along with Mojang, has become a landmark success that most indie game developers only dream of. With over millions of copies and thousands of dedicated players, it’s no wonder it’s going places. Markus and company have certainly made a name for themselves and with this new power comes great responsibility.

For example, they’ve recently teamed up with Kristen Schaal, famous for appearing in such shows as Flight of theConchords, Bob’s Burgers, and The Daily Show, with a building competitionbeing hosted by them in part with Schaal. And most of you already know about the Las Vegas’ MineCon where the game will be released. However, they are also teaming up with IGN where MineCon will be streamed live so others may take part in the fun.

Lucky for you, if you haven’t seen it, 2PlayerProductions has released a mini-doc where you can see part 1 and part 2. It’s around 20 minutes long but worth the watch. It’s basically an introduction of what the film will contain as Mojang’s rise to success in the indie-game scene. If you love Minecraft, this is a must-see. It highlights Mojang as one of many in the world where the indie world yearns for success. Mojang, one of the few, has found and earned it. So, coming 2012 when the film is released, I know where I’ll be.

Magicka expansion to make fun of minecraft

According to PC gamers article (http://ping.fm/TiuMa) onOctober 28 2011 the latest expansion of Magicka, scheduled to launch this winter, will have some elements that takes a stab at minecraft.

Ah Magicka, with your completely bonkers expansions. Joining this year’sVietnamis The Stars are Left, a ‘spandey based on H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos, spotted over onRPS. Scheduled to launch this winter, it includes a new adventure campaign, which is one of the most requested features for the co-op spell ‘em up.

Like Vietnam, only the host player needs the expansion for others to join in an act described by developer Arrowhead Studios’ colleagues as, “More insane than a black goat with a thousand young.” We don’t believe for one minute that anyone actually said that.

It also makes fun of Minecraft. Magicka is rapidly becoming the Naked Gun series of computer games.

Here are some bullet points, if you’re into that kind of thing:

  • An all-new adventure, several levels long, allowing players to get lost in space and time
  • 2 new challenge maps
  • 2 new robes
  • 2 new bosses
  • 5 new achievements
  • 7 new enemies
  • Considerably more than 2 new items and Magicks
  • Also, we make fun of Minecraft this time

I see no harm in some friendly parodies, my only question is when will notch take a stab back?

Take A Look At The Mushroom Village
